love in the face of fear (scary poetry) haibun

how had it come to this
lying here in the bowels of this dilapidated house
listening to the eerie song of wind
that whistles through its rotting cracks
the moans and creeks of its desiccated wooden walls
the scratch and screech of thorned bracken
that claws desperately from the outside
the floorboards above groan and sag
under the weight of our oncoming doom
She grips my hand and squeezes
passing on fears and regrets tinged in desperation
and something else...
late night solitude
with fear flavored in desire
hands seeking embrace
Guttural sniffs sting the suspended silence
the abomination searches
it does not know we are here
slowly i draw her into my arms-
and she nestles helplessly in my chest
we stay quiet
dispatching silent prayers to all gods and deities
the clawsteps begin receding
it feels like the creature is retreating
There's nothing but her heartbeat entangling within mine
i cannot see her eyes but her head tilts up towards me
our kiss is dry with the scorch of terror
but it moistens with the frenzy of our lust
our limbs grab and writhe in each other, quiet and eager
we take breaths that come out in gasps
cut off immediately by the clash of our ravenous lips
i'm on top of her now,
my fingers consuming every inch of skin
her hands indecently ripping at my pants...

Oh silent dark night
our minds conjure perfection
seeking ecstasy
i stop!
pain stabs through my chest
shock paralyses my body
a grotesque snarl besmirches my ears
and foul breath befouls the air
i think of only one thing
as warmth leaks out of my weakening body
as she stops moving beneath me
i cling to that final thought
as she feels the ooze of my blood allover her
i think of her
lonely lost lovers
finally brought together
to have but a taste

Jude, love scares me all on it’s own. But add things that go bump in the night, and I am horrified!
