Loss
and pain
years of joy
never again
the way is open
barren sands inviting
porous without emotion
she seeks the depths of no return
away from a world bereft of him
a husband gone, memories borne on salty winds
thoughts of self demise weigh down her final steps
footprints of despair trail in her wake
but the sea roils its rejection
and waves churn their denial
refusing surrender
splashing with hope
beyond the horizon
life goes on
and love
waits
.
Till death do you part
a daughter he leaves behind
never truly gone
The pull of emotion reflected in the waves; nicely done, Jude!

lingering loss that aches is the feeling i get. it may not hurt as much as time goes on, but it will never fully subside š¦
