Questions of Crisis (soul searching)

Hey everyone. I hope you’re all safe and sound.
In light of this global situation, I’d like to emphasize empathy.

I wrote this brief poem in the hope that you read it, dearest reader.
May it stir something within us all…

Where am I
How do I breathe
In this world riddled with danger
These wolves I’ve chosen to guide my sledge
have wrestled control
driving my life over an edge
without a choice! without a say!

What do I do
when my will is taken
and only hope remains
Do I cling to wishes and prayers
pretending that all is out of my hands
Tucked safely at home
storage bursting with rations
seamlessly adjusting to this norm

Or do I ask
How can I help-
those that live on day-to-day basis
Spreading hope
not storing it away
Can I search my soul
and remember that if everyone says, “Me first”
the world will be a much more dangerous place!
