On misty nights fogged in questions and thought
the truth beams from a dark secluded window
as trees whisper secrets, and lies scurry below
Her divine visage splutters through my mind unsought
Cherry-red lips and the memories they wrought
A widowed love and the sorrow she would bestow
How cruel that truth would be and how could I know
‘That, which should heal would leave me captured and caught
When the mist is thickest, only then can I see
The light of truth, dwelling hidden in the dark
Through fogs of mystery, I find what’s meant to be
Looking hard, thinking deep, there the answer lurks
To know what is mine, and what is meant for me
Embarked on my journey, sheltered in love’s ark

I used the Petrarchan Sonnet form for the first time in this poem. I hope you enjoy it.

Loved this line ….When the mist is thickest, only then can I see
The light of truth ….. How true in more ways then one. Excellent prose, Jude. Thank you! xo

I think we are always traveling through fogs of mystery…but every once in awhile the light breaks through. (K)

This is very interesting, Jude. The words are almost conflicting. I think love is like that.

Once again this can apply to so many situations. Struggles and hope both are conveyed so well! Love your style of writing.

A lovely story unfolds in your words.
Rhyme and Sonnets are not my strong suit. And I give kudos to those who can!
Cheers, Jules

But I don’t follow all of those “rules” either… I’m just a rebel that way 😀
