what do you see photo prompt
The world lies just beyond that old mother tree
Vast and full of mystery
Its sirene call to adventure burns her so
And yet fear of the unknown tells her no
One step is all it takes
One step she cannot make
heavy and laden with uncertainty
Yet laced with the promise of dreams and desire
.
Should we always answer that call to pursue what we desire?
The risk is high but so is the reward.
Or should we play it safe and be grateful for what we have?
I often find myself in a fix too, but mostly always grateful for what I have. This is well put!

Thank you Jade, glad you’d like it. I’d like to know what you think tho

You do, do you π What I think is if you make the choice to go into the untrodden territory with awareness of risks, and you feel strong enough to deal with whatever those risks are, then why the heck not. Life’s too short to be voluntarily self-limiting.

I am more rationally driven. I’d have to say, what is most beneficial and give the most joy in the long run?

Fair enough. But how long you can see matters

Good questions. But I think each different situation has its own answer. There are things I’ve regretted doing and things I’ve regretted not doing. (K)

Wow!! Your words flow effortlessly, Jude, so profound and powerful piece. You raise an important question, sometimes, no matter what you believe in, you are unable to make a leap due to the circumstances. But if the situations allow than please find that inner calling is what I say.

Beautifully worded poem, Jude and well taken challenge. Loved the picture of the tree and the wide expanse with the child simply touching the tree and watching at random.

Jude, this is such a beautifully written poem and it encapsulates a truly meaningful question for us all. Do we take a bigger risk for something (perceived to be) better? Or do we just go with the flow. How far can we look before we leap? You made me think π

I remember a story told of one of my elders who wanted to run-a-way, but knew they couldn’t cross the street… so they kept waking around the block – all the neighbors called her Mother to say which window she was passing… until finally I guess she went home.
Challenges can be learning experiences. And sometimes you have to listen to the warning bells of intuition to be careful of where you step π

Yeah I guess being reckless is not the way to go.
Thank you for this Jules

It’s not so much being reckless… depending on one’s age. Adventure is just a step away. And remember it’s not the destination, but the journey π
