Colleen’s challenge photo prompt

Spy in the thickets
camouflaged behind that lens
incessant voyeur
filming death’s emissary
Upclose, flirting with danger
Wildlife extraordinaire, Balaji Malliswamy, pit his revered arsenal of filming skills against the apex predator of the deep.
Hiding in the vicinity of the mother gator’s burrow, surveilling her every move.
But unbeknownst to him, she was watching even closer. Pinging his position by his scent
and holding the flash of his lens with her hypnotic gaze, a deadly ancient technique.
The night Swamy would take his special shot would be his last.
Cold blooded, the mother gator lowered her body temperature and slipped past his thermal sensors, rendering his night vision cameras useless.
He was all but blind to her scaly green and brown hide and that’s when fear cascaded upon the night and dread gripped him.
There she was, slithered besides him, tense and ready to spring.
Baring the deadliest smile he would ever witness.
Man’s technology
Nature’s ingenuity
Mano-e-mano
.
.
This is entirely fiction. Balaji Malliswamy isn’t in any croc trouble, he simply has the credit for this amazing photo, which was chosen by Vashti as a prompt for Colleen’s challenge this week.
Hope you enjoy this.
Man has the power to create but nature is the ultimate creator in my opinion.
Oooh! Chilling

Some Crocks know who to eat… I remember the one in Peter Pan that ate Captain Hook! – I got to see the stage version with Actress Sandy Duncan as Peter Pan when I was a child…
Nature has her ways. 😉

Jude!! This is so darn good. I love the short story which is excellent Tanka prose, in my book. The additional Senryu at the end is perfect! What an entertaining read. ❤

I had an idea in mind to write on apex predators, and here you are, adorning it poetically!
It’s true that nature overpowers us by all means. I thoroughly enjoyed the picturisation, that’s almost a nightmare for any photographer!!

Thank you Anisha, I’ve seen some of those wildlife film crews on documentaries, it’s not a job for the faint hearted. They run into all sorts of trouble
