What do you see photo prompt:
Fog and mist shroud the warmth within your soul
chilled with icy retorts and rejection
Darkness cloaks your fragile heart
filled with shadowed thoughts and faults
Trees grow tall with tales,
scarred
Rooted in memory
All these, protect
Your lonely
Wary
Soul
Only those that truly desire you, find you
Those that search beyond all aspersions
Traversing that treacherous path
To find your place of solace
And share in your solitude
Where your purity dwells
and warmth persists
Secluded
waiting
…
.
Coincidentally, I found this image a few weeks back and wrote a lovely sonnet for it. In case you missed it, check it out here
Sometimes we erect obstacles, maybe to prevent people from misusing the warmth of our hearts…
Sometimes it’s so that only those who truly want us and persist can be let in, and other times, it’s for other reasons.
I welcome your thoughts on this and I hope you enjoyed the poetry.
Stay safe, stay warm.
This is a lovely piece, I could resonate to it on some level.

Cloaking the fragile heart… yes, that’s what we do to protect ourselves.
Beautifully put, Jude π

Thank you Sadje, for the prompt. I didn’t just link it to the prompt, I drew inspiration from it, the fog and trees and darkness and tiny warm room…

I like the idea of letting our inner light shine in the darkness. If we leave no openings, nothing can get in. (K)

Some erect emotional barriers that they think are protecting them…
When they, I believer really need to stretch and seek the truth of their intuitiveness which I think tells them to reach out.
With that said it can be difficult to recover from hurts to our frail humanity…

Yes, it’s ideal to keep open to goodness but that leaves you open to danger as well, and unfortunately some wounds go too deep and need careful nursing lest they become fatal

I know full well of that… took me too long to let go of some hurts.
One must forgive the self first… in order to move forward. π
