When dreams come true (Fantasy poetry and prose)

The Spellcaster’s bond
Where dreams and nightmares are shared
At reality’s end

The time was ripe
The portends aligned
Stars in that evening sky sparkled with auspicious glee
And the air thrummed with a savory taste
Our hands were linked in a vespers of incantation
Seeking the blip between two worlds,
The one we live in, so beleaguered
And the one we find in dreams, so beguiling
Desperation drove us on
garnished with the soulful melody of freedom
Plunging us pell-mell into adventure
Into a world of fantasy

I stood in a meadow of fluorescent crocuses, beautiful and gleaming
But to my right, twined thorned vines of devil’s snare, hiding beneath a canopy of elder trees
Such splendour amidst danger

How clear the water in that river gleamed!
A glint of gillyweed in the deeps
and a happy glimpse of mimbulus mimbletonia in the shallows
Yet further up river a grotesque boat drifted, the ferryman of the styx searching for lost drachmas
Fear misting in his wake
Such horror amidst wonder

I bowed to a Griffin that did not let me fly
But Pegasus flew down, and took me to the skies
over gardens of Belladonna and mandrakes half buried
Past henbane, yarrow and nightshade we hurried
I even caught a glimpse of Luna’s dirigible plums
no snorkacks though, perhaps in another world

I saw Sprites and ferries that glittered up the night
Even witnessed a sphinx and manticore fight
Hydras, harpies, a phoenix in flight
And in this world of fantasy, I slowly came to see..
Harmony thrives when nature’s left to be

Dream’s candid desires
dripping imperfect perfections
refreshing the soul

.

I wanted to bring a little Fantasy to you this weekend. Hope you enjoy this.

Stay safe, stay grateful

I finished a book YA book last week about children having to deal with many of the creatures you mentioned along with some Greek Gods tossed in for good measure; (possibly) The Shadow Thieves by
Anne Ursu (I find quite a variety at the little free library).

Your verse reminded me of the book and how either way through man or mystery things can go wonky, but hopefully in the end can be remedied ๐Ÿ˜€
