Love can be found in the most unlikely places
It carries the scent of a better today
The terse taste of bitter yesterdays
And the aphrodisiac of a blissful tomorrow
He sits by the bar in his favourite watering hole; the blue-eyed devil
Contemplating the opaline glass before him
Holding it up with a practiced hand
Swirling more than just whisky
His mind murky with reminiscence
A cocktail of scandalous thoughts
And a mug of bittersweet memories
In here, he is lonely but never alone
She sits in a corner of the blue-eyed devil
Such a dump and forlorn place
She doesn’t know why she comes here
But she comes nonetheless
Wolfing down copious amounts
Shot after shot
Gunning down her regret
And numbing her pain
In here, she is candid and unafraid
Loneliness stings as they survey the surroundings
Their eyes meet
dazed in sultry delirium
their gaze held by magnetic desire
She thinks him broken and lusts to fix him
He thinks her perfect, an angel of sin
Their spirits kindred
Lasoued together with need
Wrong place
Wrong time
Right person
Hope you enjoy this duet, I believe that a clouded mind is the heart’s domain.
It’s good to follow your heart, but the mind is needed, to temper a heart’s euphoria. So drink responsibly my friends.
P.S I came across this quote:
Drink because you are happy and never because you are miserable
~G.K Chesterton~
Do you agree with Chesterton? I’m not too sure
Many a regretful morning after begins with drink.
I’m a social drinker, so I agree with Chesterton. It’s a way to enjoy time with friends. (K)

Yes I agree with you on that too. But at times we get very heavy and sad news and maybe, even almost unbearable..,

I can’t drink enough to help me with that.

I didn’t want this to end. And, I LOVED this line:
“Swirling more than just whisky”
Brilliant!

Thank you so much. I’m happy you liked this. It was heading in an intimate direction away from the main theme so I stopped writing just in time, hehe

You gave us atmosphere.
Wrong place, wrong time, right person — excellent.
And I think Chesterton is right in a way, even though drink softens some pains.

Thank you so much Bp, yeah those pains are what is confusing me but I guess on the whole, she is right

I don’t drink so I don’t have an answer for you. My yesteryears however are a different story. But I’m not me back when now. (smile)

I guess it brings out different sides of people, sometimes bad, other times good

Sigh! This was amazing 😍, Jude! Especially the line ” swirling more than whiskey” brilliant, indeed!
I agree with Chesterton, although I am a social drinker.

Thank you bubble, I guess there are more effective ways to deal with misery away from drinking

I would hope so, adding alcoholism to already present misery doesn’t help much!
cheers 🙂

Put your drink in your stomach and not in your head.

This could be a great love story. What would be the effect of a drink when you are happy? I think drinks live with sadness. That taste can only be for sadness.

Yeah but they also take away inhibitions that allow for merriment and celebration
