everyone is a moon and has a dark side they never show
Pale lunar prescience
Eavesdropping upon the night
Impartial witness
Many tales do not tell
They gloss over struggle
and embellish triumph,
They speak only of that quest
Into an ancient castle
To find a long lost treasure
To rescue a love meant to be…
Such glamour they portray
Such excitement and adventure
Yet little is said of dismay
Little is told of the fear that grips you now
Of the choicelessness
For what can you do
When fate pulls you hence
Inexorable and insistent
To this point in life you cannot keep at bay
To face your greatest challenge
To conquer your greatest foe
The one you’ve locked away
In that fortress only you can know
And so you stare on
As a pallid moon gleams upon the soul’s landscape
And dread trickles down your spine
For you hear the echoes of a ghoulish wail
And the incessant rattle of chains about to break
You quake and tremble
As the harsh world without
Inflames the prisoner within
A prisoner you must always soothe
A foe to whom you cannot lose
A darkness within
Waning moon of night
Watching souls, seeking secrets
To tame the dark side
I wrote this for Sadje’s what do you see photo prompt
For some the dark side is deep and buried away.
For others it is stronger, a second nature.
May we strive to beam the soft light of goodness, under which darkness cannot fight, but only slumber in peace.
And may we have the patience to seek for the goodness in all things.
Stay safe, stay loving
Superb imagery, Jude. I love the build up. I hear the rattle of chains and the ghoulish wail… splendid stuff π

Very deep thoughts. Maybe for us all the struggle exists and for some it is more prominent part of their lives.
Thanks for joining in the challenge Jude.

There is a lot of tension in your words. I think we do always struggle to balance the dark and the light. (K)

Jude this almost feels like a spell being cast. May light always prevail against the darkness locked in the cellar.
