Forest of love

Here we stand! You and me together!
In this place that has always been our own
Our forest of love
Where the air glistens with embers of fate
delicate yet everpresent
sifting through flecks of fortune

Once, this place bloomed with colour and appeal
Caressed in silken webs of pleasure
Iridescent with mystique and allure
But now, insecurity and fear creep in
While comfort and bliss drain out
All that’s left is black and white emotion
Desire, distress
Delight, despair!
Our forest besmirched

Eerie fogs of distrust creep upon our canopy of dreams
Heartbreak prowls our bedrock of passion
And the terror of separation holds us in its grip
We slink and hide away in bushes of secrecy
As the panic of loss sets in
As the dread of loneliness falls upon our souls
As we asphyxiate in anticipation
Of pain yet to come

Yet here we still are! You and me together!
The lovelight still glinting in our eyes
And though much may threaten
And our love hangs by a thread
I look around and see
It’s only you and me
Only we can destroy
Only we can replenish
This, our forest of love

It is said that when love is real, it finds a way.
But even real love must be nurtured.
Lest it flutters away

Stay safe, stay loving

  1. You are a master of words Jude. I think I am telling this again. The flow of the poem is just so beautiful. The phrases you’ve used, embers of fate, canopy of dreams, bushes of secrecy and many more….they add a new dimension to the poem. Well done Jude 👍
