Child in need

Lost forsaken twins
Bereaved of loved ones by war
Stray, nowhere to go
Meals they crave, morsels they get
Crying for mother long gone

Plagued by pestilence
Child born under death’s shadow
Never knowing hope
Each day his family sleeps
Knowing someone will not wake

Child in foster care
Patronised throughout her life
Alone amidst change
Will someone ever listen
Give unconditional love
,

To give love is to gain peace
To care is to find purpose
To help is to find fulfillment

I hope you appreciate these tanka poems and the insight in bold.
I hope they stir something in you.

Stay safe. Stay loving.

This is a heartbreaking piece. Makes me realise once again how privileged I’ve been in my life.

    1. judeitakali says:

It’s not someone’s fault to be privileged. Maybe helping is a way of justifying it

      1. Janani says:

Not a fault for sure. But sometimes it makes you more grateful towards the life you have, and sensible towards the responsibility that comes with it. 😊 Thank you for sharing such a touching work!

I like the craft with which you write and the selection of an urgent theme–more importantly, the real children. The situation is not likable, of course. Though, again, the raising of awareness is.
