The world beyond the veil
The veil not many know
If ye be spiritual
Ye must believe
If ye be not
Ye need only to feel
Do you sense it at times
Do you notice
Those odd things that happen
When what’s even is not given
When one does not pacify
The spirits on the other side…
Gran’s favourite room!
Gran’s finest china!
Once each month without fail
She laid it without question
My child! She would say
When I’m gone, you must do the same
Each full moon
You must soothe the spirits of this house!
I did not believe
But I did it anyway
For her dying wishes
Meant so much to me
And while I did
All was normal
Until I didn’t
Then everything changed…
The walls came alive
Tainted in shadows
The windows rattled
And the kitchen cabinets shook with anger
All the cutlery shattered
All,
Save that finest china
So, quickly I hastened to lay it
Pristine as Gran used to
Appeasing the spectres from beyond!
Other world
Where Ying turns to Yang
Forget Me Not!
Do you believe in the paranormal?
I hope you enjoy this.
Stay safe everyone, stay cautious.
This had an eerie feel to it Jude. Have heard a few such episodes from elders in the family.

Yeah, it’s something Ive been thinking about. I’m yet to know someone who has actually seen, tho that doesn’t mean that the omens elders interprete are baseless, so I decided to write about it this week. Sadje’s prompt really slotted in nicely

Ahhhh Jude better not dis obey grandma’s dying wish..lol..
Brilliant take on the prompt..
I believe that some things are beyong our reason to explain..and not because we cant make a logical explaination that doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

Yeah, it’s a very gray area. I think there’s some form of paranormal but no idea which one it is

Amazingly beautiful. My grandma use to believe that the spirits of loved ones visit us every friday and she use to make something sweet that day. I never believed it though. But this poem reminded me of my childhood and grandma. Great work ππ»

It’s a haunting photo! But I first thought about it was a tea party! I focused on the china, but reading your poem I looked around and I see that isn’t a party kind of photo!

Eerie for sure. Believe?..hmm thereβs always a tussle between the scientific mind and the unproven beliefs.

There’s something about dreams and memory and subconscious that feels like beyond science or maybe on another frequency

I really enjoyed your take on this image. Paranormal exists, only a few experience it. Thanks for joining in the challenge this week Jude.

A beautiful expression of haunted feeling!
I’ve heard some interesting paranormal stories from elders in the family. That makes me believe in it too.

Yeah. On the whole, I think it’s a good thing to believe there’s a spiritual plane

Nice, nice, nice. There definitely feels like there is a world “beyond” the world mos times. And almost all cultures throughout the world have believed in some form of this. I have believe that is for some good reason. And here and there I think most of us have had some experience with paranormal. But maybe it was really nothing but a normal aspect of the world! Stay safe!

Thank you for engaging. Personally, I think the dream world itself could be paranormal. Like, why can’t we die in our dreams?

If you give life to that which does not live… life will emerge.
Enjoying science fiction as I do… I think many dimensions exist. But the power belongs to the brain.
I was watching a VSauce show by Michael Stephens (or Stevens) about placebos. And how several children while not lied to (their parents knew), were lead to believe that a machine was going to help them ease some of their recurring ailments. And just with those suggestions and the power of positive thinking… the children, well in a nut shell help to cure themselves.

Yes Jules, I totally agree. the mind is very powerful. That’s how an athlete can recover from a 3month injury in just a month

Well, you know, what Gran wants. This is, if I may say, an impressively constructed poem-narrative.

Oh wow what a tale you have woven here today. You took me away, Jude! Excellent story! Do I believe in the paranormal? It would be ignorance if I did not. There are so many things we don’t even know about and the little we do know, is nothing compared to all of eternity. (smile) xo
