Lawless love

To fall
Blinded
Dazed and hypnotised
To be caught in love’s bliss
To loathe the way you lust
And despise the way you long

What is your love fate
To twinkle like a star
Want from afar
Or to light
Like a candle
Intimate and close
Will you blaze like a fire
Love once and for all
Or shine like the moon
Give a little each time

Is true love meant to last
Obey the laws of man
Or is it beyond rules
Tender yet wild

Is love that stands-
the test of time,
Truer than love that blazes-
for a time

Must I prove my love
By binding for life
Or can I love you now
And love you well

If you enjoyed this, I’d really like to know your thoughts,

Stay safe everyone, stay loving.

I think people should focus on loving each other now but I think the whole point of ‘Binding’ is give some sort of security that they will always be together.

In the era of instant gratification, longing for love, to prove its depth, isn’t something many look forward to..maybe it isn’t deep enough after all and maybe that’s fine too 😊

That was indeed one of my thoughts, maybe just loving in whichever capacity is enough? I’m not sure

Aces! That’s a nice collection of words. Too much good to not it all. This stanza really hit me at first:

“Is true love meant to last
    Obey the laws of man
    Or is it beyond rules
    Tender yet wild”

    Keep up the amazing work!

I think the comparison of love to fire is apt. It can light or consume. We can’t always control it. (K)

  12. Love indeed is lawless. One can never tell how it will begin or end, or whether it’ll ever end. I love how you compared it with fire. Love can be tender or all consuming. I think the beauty of it, is that we may never know. Very well composed, Jude. Excellent writing.

There are many ways to experience love. I would like to think that we could love in a cooperative way. No smothering, no one-sidedness.

You did remind me of a promo of a show that I will not be watching… S’Mothered. About mother daughter relationships. It is one thing to be a friend to your parent after you become an adult. But to continue to deny that child/adult the freedom to experience others – I don’t think that is comical. or worth my time to watch.

  16. Such a heartfelt poem, Jude. In this age, true love can be hard to come by which is why we should never let it go if we have it
