Destiny’s rails. A cinquain and prose collaboration.

Aishwarya and I composed this together. It was a much needed relief to do this with her, especially given the anxiety that was tainting this week for me.

The challenge of writing this together has livened my mood and I’m now bolstered to kick this anxiety.

It’s a wonder, the power of these little things.

Okay, here’s the collaboration.

Aishwarya wrote in plain italics and I did the bold italics.

Watch out for those three butterfly cinquains, they were quite the rascals to combine.

Destiny’s rails

A flowing river never stops, likewise is time.
Neither does a nod mean acceptance, nor does silence mean indifference.
All of us are puppets to time’s test.

Surprises lurk at every twist and turn, obstacles set by the divine.
Is life a show scripted by the gods, and do we really have a say?

Stand tall
Trees to time’s test
Swaying acquiescence
Stationary, indifferent
Puppets
Watching those who stray from the path
Growing within shadows
Stalking pilgrims
Patient

Seasonal colours are constant,
While man’s colours change according to circumstances.

Is fear more a blessing than a curse,
Does it hinder or does it protect?

Same shades
Seasonal change
Circumstantial colours
Chameleon-like, unabashed
Listen
Heed your intuition’s insight
In this myriad world
Don’t be consumed
Adapt

Holding on long after its gone,
That’s when the voice of heart prevails over the voice of mind.
Chills or conviction?

Engulfs
Destiny’s trick
Gone too soon, heart pines loss
Midst foliage, striking visage
Daunting
The way goes on beyond all hope
Without you I am blind
Delirious
Alone

These rails were built for two,
But now I am one side of a carriage.
A new path I must forge, through the verdant shadows of uncertain futures.

Phewx, trust me when I say this was a doozy to assemble.
This works perfectly for Colleen’s weekly challenge.

Coincidentally the feature image for this week’s challenge was chosen by Aishwarya.(the one with the train tracks)

Anyway I hope you enjoy this.

Thank you so much Colleen. I’m always down for a bit of diversity and experimentation. I can’t tell you how glad I am you like this.

      1. Oh, that’s sweet! I love creativity. Like we’ve talked before, you stayed true to the syllabic forms and added prose to fill in the backstory. If I was reading a poetry book, that would be enchanting to me. ❀

I have enjoyed a few collaborations in my time.
This was lovely. I believe we are not puppets.
Every choice (even non-choice is a choice) can be a reflection to ripple the time that ebbs and flows around us.

    Cheers to you both! ~Jules
