The traveller’s tale
Embellished with mysteries
Bejeweled in romance
I searched for peace and along you came
Fragrant as an autumn breeze
Torchbearer to desire’s sensual flame
Love’s emissary, breathing words that bring ease
Through the hidden paths of lush forest trails
Your hand was laced in mine
Familiar, intimate and yet unknown.
Through the ripples of sunlight in the river vale
Your beauty sparkled,
Your complexion dazzled
You were mine, but only on loan
Oh the secrets of a lone traveller!
For what is an epic quest without love
What is a cherished memory if one acts as divulger
For upon my return
She’ll be the one thing
That only I can have
Explorer’s memoir
Where wrong and right become one
You and I collide

Foreign places can bring foreign love, touch the facets of our being that home can never reach.
Release the flow of an inner chakra perhaps.
I don’t know what you think, have you ever found that brief love that lone travellers are prone to find?
It does not break, it sates
It ends but never leaves
A secret that renews

Beautifully written !

Stunningly beautiful poem, Jude. And, ‘no’, I have travelled very little and have never had a holiday romance. It sounds exciting though!

It is. A breath of fresh air. Especially if it stays as just a holiday romance

Nice: “For upon my return / Sheβll be the one thing / That only I can have”. Really liked those opening three lines as well. Started it all off strong. Hope you had a great week off!

I did, it was nice. I’m glad you appreciate the beginning and end, they usually clinch these short pieces and are hard to master

While we may have many companions and family… I believe we are really lone travelers… for no one truly can know another’s soul.
Like your last lines; time, life, energy…
“It does not break, it sates
It ends but never leaves
A secret that renews”
Amazing how much we gain when we have some time to retreat π

It’s so beautiful how we sometimes find solace and love momentarily in strangers and yet keep the memories with us for a lifetime. I love how you have written this! β€οΈ
