Take a breath
Calm your heartbeat
A thump!…A sigh!…
Step by step
No time to lose
Breathe…
The journey is long
And the day is hard
But who knows what wakes in the night
Sands that change
Dunes that come alive
Winds that thirst
Quiet…
Tread lightly…
The shadows grow long
Dark things begin to stir
Dry winds cast heat aside
And ghast a chilling cold
Will bravery help you
Will persistence earn you reward
The mysteries of life’s journey
And the desert path we all must walk alone
By day, the sun
By night, the stars
The wisdom of those that came before
Our guide through the toughest of times
For the ocean waits at desert’s end,
An oasis for those who see the journey through.
Who shall come
Dredge rock bottom
where few overcome
And thus discover whom one,
is meant to become

May we never give up no matter how hard things may seem.
Stay safe everyone, and keep loving along the way.
A wonderful description of a journey of self-discovery: a tough path but worthwhile!

I love the way that this slowly unfolds… just like the journey of life which, in the end, we all must travel alone.

I like the reflexive imagery, the poem itself an oasis in the journey. Very nicely done.

Solitude initiates self discovery. Your words have beautifully decorated hope even with the realm of desolation. ❣

Oooh I am trying to cut back to just one post because I started school and a new job. It was getting hectic.

This reminds me of the book (and movie) Dune by Frank Herbert.
There was a special way to walk in the desert dunes as to not disturb the monster underneath…
I did a small offering on this prompt here:
ingrained?
I too wrote of my time away 😉
