Because of love, I belonged.
Because I loved, I was exiled.
Culture
Deep traditions
Binding, stifling, Rigid
Forced to choose duty, not passion.
No dreams
Never selfish, only selfless
Without identity
Yet not alone
Anchored
We cannot choose where we are born
And we can belong to more than one place
For the human soul is complex in its simplicity
It never settles,
And yet demands so little.
Within the family
And between true friendships
Love must transcend culture
And culture must evolve around love,
For belonging is not a place
Nor is it a tradition
Belonging is in the hearts
Of those who love us most true.

Culture gives so much, and also takes its fair share.
Is it right to take the good favourable bits of culture and ignore the parts we don’t agree with?
Or must we take it as a whole.

I’m glad to be back from my hiatus earlier than planned.
Things worked out faster than I thought.
I hope you are all well and healthy, and I’ll be trying to slowly catch up with your blogs throughout this week.
Hope you enjoy and engage with me on this short piece.
Lots of love.

Welcome back Jude! I think that culture is in our blood but we should be able to discard the traditions that we don’t agree with.

That sounds perfect, tho some say it’s not authentic, especially with religion, which is a more complicated culture

I think with religion one doesn’t have this choice.

Religion is man-made to divide conquer as we are all descendants of Adam and Eve we’re all brothers and sisters so where did culture come into it

Religion is complex, I must admit. But it really does do alot more good than harm in my opinion. Though the cultural ethnic traditions have been there for centuries and millennia.

Glad to see you Jude. We should take what resonates with us. Culture is continually changing and so are we. (K)

Well penned! 😍
Culture has both good elements and bad, but we must expand upon the good while identify and try to change the areas we don’t agree with. Each culture has some of these ‘problematic’ elements.

Yeah this makes sense. I’ve got very sound and reasonable answers and this is exactly that. Thank you so much.

Welcome back, Jude! You were very missed, IMO! Religion is not bad, it’s what people do with it that distorts its intent.
