The winds of change blow hither and thither
The fine sands of time unite us as one
Join me now and may we grow together
With you, we have it all; alone means none
Black, white or brown, our souls are all alike
We dream, we dread and we hold on to hope
Though customs and culture may be unlike
I learn from you, you grow from me; we cope
We gleam resplendent in diversity
A spectrum of potential enkindled
The young hold the wisdom of unity
Old friendships and memories rekindled
To love what lies within and not without
To embrace nature’s harmony and sprout.
The image prompt above stirs peaceful reflections and joys within me. Hope this sonnet has done it justice.
Colleen’s syllabic challenge – poet’s choice. I wrote a Shakespearen sonnet.
