Instincts of harmony. A sonnet

Whatdoyousee photo prompt.

The winds of change blow hither and thither
The fine sands of time unite us as one
Join me now and may we grow together
With you, we have it all; alone means none

Black, white or brown, our souls are all alike
We dream, we dread and we hold on to hope
Though customs and culture may be unlike
I learn from you, you grow from me; we cope

We gleam resplendent in diversity
A spectrum of potential enkindled
The young hold the wisdom of unity
Old friendships and memories rekindled

To love what lies within and not without
To embrace nature’s harmony and sprout.

The image prompt above stirs peaceful reflections and joys within me. Hope this sonnet has done it justice.

A beautiful, rich poem, Jude. I particularly like the line: ‘We gleam resplendent in diversity…’ That, I think, says it all.
How clever too! I wish I had the skill to write such a splendid sonnet… or any sonnet for that matter. The form eludes me completely.

      1. Hi Jude, Yes, I am well, thanks. It’s been very busy lately with all the end of year demands of the school and trying to wind up the work year before our annual shutdown on 11 December. Racing, racing, is how I feel.
