The Saturday Symphony #23 (Addict)

Hi everyone, I welcome you all to the 23rd edition of The Saturday Symphony.
Back from the month of romance.
Or for some, the month where loneliness is felt most keenly.

Cheers to making it here,
On the threshold of a March of possibility.

I’m lost and agitated
Incomplete
My body pines
And my mind wines
What ritual will sate my needs
Comfort my discomfort
And Soothe
My Addiction

Addiction is widely seen and understood as negative,
But is there such a thing as a good addiction?
In this Symphony, we will try to explore this notion.

But first;

February’s five featured posts

The windswept moors and uncultivated lands of Brittany, have long been linked with the ghostly activity of the dead. However…

Creatures of the Breton night by Bon Repos Gites

Just above the skyline and beyond the horizon,

there rests a wish I make during the twilight hours...

Wishes by Shreya Sharma

The three days that we spent in that city.
The evenings, intoxicated by the smell of linden trees and the intimation of grace…

The Promise of Us by Gabriella Marie Milton

On 8 February 1692, a doctor from Salem village, Massachusetts, was called to visit two young girls who showed strange symptoms…

And her yellow fingers added one more quill to it…

Addiction at its worst
Obsessive and Possessive
A desperate dependency
.
A Good addiction
A commitment
To improve
A Passion

PONDEROUS THOUGHT Prompt

ADDICT
We have all been addicted to something,

In some shape or form,
The synonyms for addiction range from dependency, to craving, to habit, to infatuation and compulsion.
.

This month of March, share a story about addiction at its worst,

And then counter it with a tale of a passion that has saved you or someone you know.

You’re more than welcome to use art, images, and any form of writing.

How did it come to this
My fingers trembling
My breath laboured
Asphyxiating with longing
Desperate for more
Withdrawn
From You
My Addiction

Under the covered bridge, a lover’s pathway.
Each youth thinking they are first to come this way...

Though I’m not with him today, I’ll never forget…

And though I’m not the blushing kind, I feel heat traveling up my neck...

The first hint of romance by Punam

Oh so far away! A gush of wind gently kissing my cheek
My go-to messenger…

Thank you all,
Lots of love.

Yes I’m not a robot.
Me after putting the finishing touches on the Symphony this morning.

Show me love
And I’ll show you devotion
Give me an escape
And I’ll hold on tighter
Be good or bad
My Passion or Bane
But be there
With me
My addiction!

Remember to pingback to this post, and to paste the link to your post in the comments section, just to be sure I find you.

Do this by the 26th of March to be featured in the April edition.

Can’t wait to read your entries, and your shared thoughts on addiction.

Goofing around this morning, Noir version, lol.

Maybe a Passion is a good addiction,
Maybe ambition to some extent too.

Stay safe everyone,
Stay loving.

  5. Ah, addiction, I am not sure there is any positive take on addiction, Jude. Addition to anything is destructive. I enjoyed your poems and thoughts.

I had a solid think about this Robbie. Being addicted to spirituality or religion is a good thing.
Being addicted to a passion which makes you better is also a good thing,
Because addiction doesn’t mean you do it 24/7, you can be addicted to a hobby

      1. Perhaps in this context you are right, Jude. I don’t think of religion as an addiction, but more a lifestyle.

I like that noir photo! It’s hard for me to see addiction as good. I don’t think its the same as passion. Something to consider. (K)

Having only dealt with ‘addiction’ in a periphery sort of way… This is what I came up with: Craving Answers

Too many become dependent on things that only briefly alter one’s state of mind or being. Addiction tends to have a very negative connotation. I think we can only overcome the negativity, by being positive and recognizing that some need help and offer what we can.
