Angel eyes

Those eyes held the weight of despair,
The twinkle of adventure,
And the mystery of knowledge.
They had borne witness to countless things
Good, evil, and things in between.
And though they glimmered in resplendence,
If you looked long and deep enough, you could tell –
That they had lost the beauty of hope.

Angel eyes
Deep as grief
Soft as kindness
Enchanting many
Bewitching others
Eyes that inflame desire
Breed wonder and awe
And though many may stare
None will ever know
For none can hold your gaze
None can bare to see –
The things that you have seen.

Angel eyes
Telling nothing, showing all
Auspicious
Pernicious
Benign or sinister?
What fortunes do you withhold?
What truths will hurt me so?

Angel eyes
Adept at numbing all emotion
For you have known pain
And you have known loss
Lifetimes of joy that end in grief
And great loves that end in betrayal
Now you watch
And much you see
But still you do not feel!

Angel eyes
Who shall dare come,
Unworthy with perfidy
For you have seen too much
And know even more
And yet your depths lack but a spark
A selfless gesture
Of maybe kindness, or even love
For beneath the cold
Reserved for you,
A precious warmth still resides
Waiting to be rekindled.

It is always presumptuous to think we know another 100%. I always disliked when one of my parents said they knew me better than I knew myself. May all those that need that spark of hope and love get it! (((Hugs)))
