Dry winds and fallen leaves. A Villanelle #poetry

Why must a moment of sadness, be equal to a lifetime of happiness?

Unsung solemn Swan
Float this aching heart of mine
Grief on wings of hope

When winds blow dry and heavens leer
The scent of hope melds with denial
And leaves fall like hidden tears

Desperation plants a lustful souvenir
A caress of distress, a kiss of betrayal
When winds blow dry, and heavens leer

You wield seduction to loneliness’ frontier
But the stars reject you; the moon withholds love’s vial
And leaves fall like hidden tears

Don’t you see, Can’t you hear?
My silent plea; as heart puts hope on trial
When winds blow dry, and heavens leer

Lassitude grips me, and all is unclear
Joy abandons while pain stays loyal
And leaves fall like hidden tears

In love there is loss; in hope there is fear
And so I pray, for hope I cradle
When winds blow dry, and heavens leer
And leaves fall like hidden tears

Lonely and searching
Where Light heals and dark soothes
A lost Paradise
