Heart’s gates

Close the doors
Don’t let them see
Don’t let them know
The things that only you can change…

#whatdoyousee

Two doors; One heart
Nine love-lives; Eight already taken
You contrive lush brobdingnagian walls
A fortress of pretense
Shielding a barren land, long bereft of passion
Protecting its crown jewel
The one that keeps you going
The one that battles the siege of bitterness
And defies that sadistic herald of death; depression!
A shield for a most precious gem;
An aegis for Hope!

Knock,
I will not open!
Wave a banner of peace,
I will not believe you!
If you try to drift in like smoke,
You will fail!
For all the cracks are sealed
And none may enter
Not until the barrenness has been replenished
Not until the facade outside cannot compare to the beauty within
Not until I’ve nurtured the soul
Healed the heart
And comforted the mind

For at number five on Solitude avenue
I find my truest home
I spring the fountain of love
And at last;
The gates can open
For here; I find my best self

Open the doors
Let them receive
Let them bask in the light that comes from within
Share it, to grow it!

Your words, Jude, are always elegantly and needfully placed. I am always enchanted by your writing. This poem holds an entire inner world within its borders. I feel instantly reflected and amazed by, not just your astonishing insights, but by your skill at capturing the human condition in words on a page! Thank you. (PS. I have ordered your book and am sure it will be a companion of mine to balance the destabilizing nature of the chaotic world we live in.)

We can build strong barriers when we’ve been hurt. But the only way to truly heal is to open the door. Beautifully rendered as always. (K)

When you mention 8 lives already taken I thought of a cat.
But there is so much more in the ether of your statements.
The longing, the hope, and finally opening the doors. πŸ˜€
