This carousel of joy
A beloved routine
With changes in between
Sparks of passion
In vespers so deep and private,
In nature so steeped in wonder,
And in dreams from the child I once was,
I found it!
come oh come
zest of heydays past
Haul me up
Hoist my soul-
out from hope’s evanescence
Zing me back to life!
There was a time dreams turned insipid
When hope wilted like leaves from a poisoned tree
And fruits of potential fell rotten with disease
When fear made itself at home
No more blooms
No more beauty
For the absence of fear did not make me brave,
And finding my courage did not drive away all fear.
At the end
I scoured the night sky
Roamed dark woods
Trod white sands
Yearning for the beginning
And oh how I prayed!
How I laid myself bare!
How I accepted faults!
Wounds healed with grains of salt
How I found ‘Me’
Finding me, fed my spirit;
Nourishing my spirit, strengthened my faith;
Faith, is an endless fountain of hope;
Hope, is espoused to love;
And love, births gratitude and joy.
Once I was cast aside as a runt.
Yet here I am now
A beacon of warmth.
A comfort to all.
I won’t be posting in the month of July as I’m focusing on finishing the first draft of my novel. This is because I begin studies in August, and the book release is set for spring 2022. So I want to only be editing all the way from August to release season.
I’ll however continue reading your sites, as I enjoy visiting and it refreshes my mind. Maybe I’ll repost some of my past material that I’d like new followers to read, and old ones to remember.
I hope you enjoy this, I used all my favorite prompts as a monthlong farewell.
Colleen’s syllabic challenge asked us to write out a favorite syllabic poetry form(s) and adjust it in any way we like. I combined a shadorma with an abhanga to make; wait for it……, SHABHANGA! The rest of the piece not in bold italics is freeverse and prose.
Reena’s exploration challenge gave us a quote as inspiration and I enjoyed it very much. “We don’t need to make us safe, because you made us feel brave”
- Sadje’s #whatdoyousee – superhero dressed dog
- Eugi’s weekly prompt – happiness
- KL Caley writephoto – Treeman
Stay safe everyone, Stay loving.
