“Fantasy love” and “Angels and Demons” (Two-in-one post)

Fantasy Love

You glide on eventide
And sway through first light
Straight into my heart – even as you depart
And always, I yearn for your intimate bliss
Always, I crave your mellifluous voice
For no shape can fit – the space you leave behind

Alone but never lonely
My chills thawed by a promise
Awaiting the one that loves me most

She does not answer his every call
But she comes when need is greatest
She gives and holds nothing back
Only to wake and leave each time
But always to return
Always to bring more
Always pulled back
To the one who loves her most.

Away but never gone
In thought, and in mind
A love that can’t be denied

In her absence, his love ages like fine wine
While her desire rumbles like magma beneath the lusty mountain of memory
For she knows the patter of his step, like the beat of her own heart
And he breathes her fragrance, like a scent from dreams that lingers in reality

How cruel to be worlds apart
To meet only in festive times
And yet we survive
And yet we stay true
And yet our love is always stronger
For we know our future is nigh
And one Christmas soon, we’ll be ready –
To jingle all the way…

Angels and Demons(An image-inspired poem)

My given name was once Davida.

Amongst the Angels, I am a part of many!
I follow rules and bask in the collective praise
Yes, many exalt us
Yes, we are beautiful, benign, benevolent and bequeathed superfluous divinity
But always it is ‘we’ and never ‘me’
‘Us’ and never ‘I’
And yet inside me wells torrential tides of desire, tender troves of passion, and a tumultuous thirst to discover who I truly am.

There are countless dangers on this path that calls to me
Wolves that hunger to devour
Cunning felines wrapped in deceit
And poisonous bats from deepest fears
But an Angel, I am – and none of these can hurt me
Yet an Angel is not all that I am
And the darkness intrigues me
For endless light is now too bright
And the demon within, has awoken…

My given name is Davida. But now my chosen one, is Anne.

Hey Everyone. I am posting two separate pieces today. I so loved writing them this morning and couldn’t wait to share.

I don’t think I’ve ever done a 2in1 post before this, and I won’t be doing it again any time soon. This is just a special one for the festive season. I thought I’d hit you with some contrasts just this once.

Tis the season and I’m extra eager for your thoughts.

Stay safe everyone, stay loving.

P.S WordPress is still glitching but it’s my network provider. I am finding ways to some of your work but it’s slow going. I will be there eventually.

  1. Both are fantastic poems Jude. I love the second one more though because of its intriguing contrast.

    1. Thank you so much Sadje. Yeah. I thought of doing them separately because the last sort of makes one forget about the first. But I was excited about that switch in contrasts. I’m glad you enjoyed them both 💜💜

  3. Love and desire…two sides of the same coin both for humans and angels it seems. (K)

    1. Yeah. Being driven by desire alone is a dangerous road to take though.

  8. I’ve always wondered how angels of the bible (crazy sounding descriptions, like “a blazing wheel of eyes”) became “benevolent images of human-like beauties with wings.” Could the human psyche not cope with such insane description that we had to make the messengers of God look less like the stuff of nightmares and demons? Ha,ha,ha. Sorry, I overthink EVERYTHING too much sometimes. The poems are lovely. I really like the first one.

    1. Thank you Melanie.
I think I remember some angels in the Bible wielding swords of fire and having wings. That plus other ancient texts is where we get the image. As for demons, there is a bit more ‘evidence’ of those around the world, though that’s for a believer. I accept that others may have their own theories. Nothing wrong with overthinking. I find it’s a very helpful attribute for writing, and can be alleviated by asking ‘what is what’ in real life.

  9. Your first poem broke my heart. I lost my Mom and will not be able to hear her voice once again. I miss her so much this Christmas that I cry when I realize I’m alone.

    1. So so sorry Jane. It might sound empty, but she lives on in you. And I’m sure in others. Love those even more, tho it will not soften/fill her loss💖
